Am I eligible?

These Virtual Workshops are open to people of 18 or over who have a physical disability themselves or have a family member (aged 3 or over) who has a physical disability, who are looking to get the best out of their pet dog. These Virtual Workshops are for UK residents and UK residents that are temporarily living abroad.

These workshops are designed for people at all stages: those with an existing adult pet dog, a new dog or puppy, and those without a dog but exploring the possibilities.

How do I book on to the Physical Disability Family Dog Service?

You can book onto one of our groups here.

If all groups are fully booked, you can register your interest in future workshops.

If you have any questions or would like to speak to a member of our team, you can contact us via: [email protected] or call 01295 252600 and choose the ‘Family Dog’ option.

How long are the ‘Workshop Live’ calls on Teams?

The Intro Live is around 45 minutes, and the main Workshop Lives (1, 2, and 3) are each 1.5 – 2 hours long.

The group I want to book onto is fully booked. What can I do?

We run our Workshops all year round, and if you would like to register your interest in our upcoming groups, please do so here: register your interest in future workshops.

I can no longer attend my booked group, what can I do?

We aim to be as flexible as possible and appreciate that circumstances can change. If you need to move your booking to another group, or wish to postpone your attendance, please get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate.

If you would like to cancel your booking, please refer to our cancellation and refund policy FAQ.

Is there a cost for joining the Family Dog Service?

Each ticket costs £60, which includes all pre-recorded Workshop content and resources on SharePoint, attendance at all ‘Workshop Lives’ on Teams and, upon completion and if you qualify, access to our specialist long-term aftercare support. Please contact us at [email protected] if you require financial assistance.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

We are able to cancel your ticket up to 7 days before the first date of your chosen group.

The £60 ticket fee is refundable upon cancellation up to 7 days before the first date of your original chosen group. Refund requests within or after the 7-day period will unfortunately not be granted, apart from in exceptional circumstances and at the manager’s discretion.

Please contact the team via [email protected] and we will be happy to assist.

I don’t yet have a pet dog. Do I need to get one before I attend the Virtual Workshops?

You do not need a dog in order to attend; these workshops are designed for people at all stages: those with an existing adult pet dog, those with a new dog or puppy, and those without a dog but exploring the possibilities.

Within the Service, we offer an optional Workshop entitled ‘Selecting the Right Dog’ specially designed to guide people in the decision-making process, including how to source a dog and what type of dog might suit themselves or their family member.

Will you supply me with a dog?

We do not supply dogs. We are an education and support Service for people with, or thinking about introducing, a pet dog in the home.

Is this Service the same as Dogs for Good’s Physical Disability Assistance Dogs?

Please note that the Physical Disability Family Dog Service is a separate service to the Physical Disability Assistance Dogs also offered by Dogs for Good.

Can my child attend the Workshop Lives with me?

These Workshop Lives are designed for adults (18y +) only, and the content may not be suitable for younger viewers. The groups are designed to be a safe conversation space for adults only, therefore we politely request that your children do not attend the Lives.

Will I be able to purchase materials and access support without, or before, attending the Workshop Lives?

Full attendance of the Virtual Workshop Lives is required to gain access to the team’s aftercare, support, and learning resources.

Access to resources and support without attendance is unfortunately not available to purchase.
