Explain your role at Dogs for Good in a few lines:
We have been volunteering as a boarder for Dogs for Good since 2020, we have had 6 dogs stay with us over the years (Albus, Dougie, Logan, Walt, Ada and Ace) we have the dogs staying with us whilst they go through their training and work with the trainers during that time. I am also part of the Digital steering group helping with the charity’s Digital journey where I volunteer my time because of my ‘day job’ in Digital Transformation.
Why do you volunteer at Dogs for Good:
Dogs for Good has always been on our radar as part of the local events and community, My family have always had dogs and we wanted to do more to help with the charity so started our boarder journey just before COVID, there are a number of really important reasons for volunteering it is amazing to see the impact the dogs have on peoples live after the training and we get something back, having 2 girls it teaches them about looking after the dogs and the important work they go on to do.
What’s the best thing about your role at Dogs for Good:
The best thing about volunteering for Dogs for Good has to be a close call between the dogs – seeing them grow and progress and the great people we get to work with - shout out to Sarah and Jess in the training team!
What would you say to someone considering volunteering at Dogs for Good:
If someone is thinking of volunteering for Dogs for Good then I only have one piece of advice: ‘Just do it’!. Reach out to the team as there are so many ways to get involved and help and you will not just be volunteering your time you will be joining a real community and family of people across the volunteers and staff.
